Viral TikTok video prompts arrest of Tustin teacher accused of contacting minor for sex
After a viral TikTok video created by an anti-crime group spurred an investigation, a Tustin Unified educator was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 23, on suspicion of contacting a minor with intent to commit sexual assault, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said. In an email sent Nov. 20 to Tustin Unified families, school district Superintendent Mark Johnson said the administration was aware of the investigation into Kavigan, a teacher at Foothill High School, and was cooperating with law enforcement. Kavigan was put on paid administrative leave, according to school officials.

Teachers felt more COVID anxiety than healthcare workers, study finds
Teachers were far more likely than other workers to experience anxiety during the first year of the pandemic, a newly released study has found. And among teachers, those who worked remotely for most of the 2020-21 school year reported higher rates of depression and loneliness than those who worked in-person. The study was published earlier this month in Educational Researcher, a peer-reviewed journal of the American Educational Research Association.
