OCDE hosts job fair to recruit substitute teachers |
As schools struggle to find substitute teachers, the Orange County Department of Education will host a recruitment fair on Thursday, March 9, in Costa Mesa.
The job fair will include information on what is needed to become a substitute teacher and how to apply as well as free fingerprinting and permit processing for the first 150 registrants. The event, from 1-6:30 p.m., will be held in an open-house style at the department’s recruitment center, 3001 Redhill Ave., in Building 4, Suite 109.

Summit Public Schools must be held accountable for school closure, Sunnyvale officials say |
Summit Denali community members, city government officials and school board trustees joined together Wednesday to denounce the decision to close the Sunnyvale charter school and demand that Summit Public Schools be audited. On Jan. 11, Summit Denali’s parent organization, Summit Public Schools, abruptly announced the school was facing a projected $4.5 million deficit for the next school year and would likely shut down permanently after the end of the school year, leaving the school’s 600-plus students suddenly unmoored. |

LAUSD rolls out new safety apps for students and staff |
LAUSD rolled out new apps aimed at streamlining communication and improving safety on campus, during a board meeting Tuesday night. The Los Angeles Times describes one app as being aimed at school employees in emergencies and the other as being aimed at students, staff, parents and other community members for non-emergency safety issues anonymously. |
