Back-to-school smoking: Juul Labs e-cigarette sales growth vexes teachers |
At Jonathan Law High School, a mysteriously large number of students last year spent copious amounts of time in the bathroom. Noticing students were disappearing for 15 to 20 minutes at a time, teachers at the Milford, Connecticut school brought the issue to principal Fran Thompson. The bathrooms would become "little tent cities," Thompson said, with kids bringing blankets and sitting on the sinks. |

CA joins international move to new braille system |
Unified English Braille, internationally recognized as the standard literacy medium for the blind since 2012, has also formally been recognized in California schools under legislation newly signed by the governor. The prior version most used throughout the U.S., known as English Braille, had fallen into some disfavor in the early 1990s because of its inability to adapt to a changing communication landscape. |
