ASK THE TEACHER |
Can you incorporate Register in Education program into your columns? |
Q. I am the Manager for the Register in Education program here at The Register. I just read a few of your columns today and they were fascinating. I am hoping, especially after reading your column about the Home Safety Council's contest, that you can incorporate our program into your column. |

Principal to donate a kidney to student |
School principals like to leave a lasting impression on students, and Franklin Middle School's Jim Friel is going the extra mile. Friel is donating a kidney to a 13-year-old eighth-grader. "I've spent 24 years in education trying to make a difference," said Friel, the father of two adult boys. "This is the best opportunity I've had so far." |

Education advocates are expected to file suit today against the state of California for shortchanging school districts $1 billion – a move they say has left districts feeling used like "credit cards." The California School Boards Association, joined by a handful of school districts, wants the state to reimburse K-12 districts for programs they say the state required and should have paid for. |
