CCPA opens doors to new opportunities for young adults in need of a diploma
On Wednesday, Aug. 28, CCPA hosted an open house to showcase its new facilities at OCDE’s Harbor Learning Center South in Fountain Valley. The event, which began at noon, included a meet and greet with staff, resources from community partners, a catered lunch, swag bags filled with supplies, and a campus tour.

STEAM reading challenge for students prepares to launch this fall

OCDE seeks nominations for 2024-25 Orange County Music and Arts Administrators Awards
Music and arts educators play a vital role in inspiring creativity and enriching students’ educational experiences. Through their leadership and dedication, they provide opportunities that help students discover their passions and develop valuable skills. In recognition of these efforts, the Orange County Music and Arts Administrators — or OCMAA — is accepting nominations for its annual awards program, celebrating teachers, administrators and community advocates who have made a significant impact on arts education in Orange County. Nominations open Friday, Sept. 6 and will close on Friday, Oct. 25.

A modernized Mesa View Middle School welcomes Ocean View district students for first day of school
The first day of school Wednesday, Aug. 28, was extra special for the students of Mesa View Middle School who returned to a practically new campus. The school renovation project is the last modernization funded in the Ocean View School District by Measure R, which was approved by voters in 2016 to pay for needed repairs and upgrades at several campuses.

Communication with parents is key to addressing chronic absenteeism, panel says
Students who are missing too much school might be facing mental health issues, poverty and housing insecurity — issues that might seem daunting if not impossible for the school system to tackle by itself.
