Weekly roundup: Irvine Unified alumna named ‘Outstanding Youth,’ Los Alamitos Instacart program, new WellSpace, and more

An alumna from the Irvine Unified School District was named “Outstanding Youth” for her work in the community by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Orange County’s big National Philanthropy Day Awards on Thursday. As the Orange County Register reported, Jasmine Chhabria, 18, enrolled in Occidental College after graduating from Northwood High School. The student made her mark in Orange County when she was named a finalist in the Junior Division of the 2018 National History Day Contest after performing a re-enactment of Mendez v. Westminster, the landmark legal case on school desegregation.

Students had warned school about Danville teacher now facing molestation charges

Students at San Ramon Valley High School in Danville had warned administrators about a teacher’s inappropriate behavior prior to his arrest for molestation, the Mercury News reported. A public records request by the newspaper found that several students had complained about biology teacher Nicholas Moseby, 41, who also coached the cheerleading squads. In one incident, Moseby allegedly whispered to two freshmen girls, “You are lucky you guys are hot,” the newspaper reported.
