Welcome to Sherwood Forest: Outdoor learning space promotes curiosity through nature
An unused piece of land that was part of the Orangethorpe Elementary School campus in the Fullerton School District has been transformed into an outdoor learning space that will offer more opportunities for students to express their creativity. The school hosted a celebration on Sept. 27 to unveil the outdoor space called Sherwood Forest to its staff, students and district leaders.

Dolly Parton teams up with California lawmakers to offer kids free books
California’s youngest children will be able to sign up to receive a free book in their mailbox every month beginning next June. Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 1183 last week, expanding Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Program to California children. The initiative, which offers books to children ages 5 and younger, was launched by the country music artist to inspire a love of reading at an early age, according to a press release from Newsom’s office.

'Field of Dreams' offers new opportunities for Stockton neighborhood kids
City of San Diego and San Diego Unified School District opens new joint-use space for soccer and other sports. A ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday celebrated the major community collaboration. The $4.3 million joint-use space includes a new synthetic turf soccer field, an asphalt track, basketball courts and a modern playground.

Charter Oak Unified School District says students from other districts can enroll
Charter Oak Unified School District this week announced that it is beginning enrollment for its District of Choice program. Registration applications will be taken through Dec. 31 for the 2023-24 school year. The program means that students from outside districts may enroll in a Charter Oak Unified school without an inter-district transfer.
