It’s charter-school deja vu: The same campus Montebello Unified denied is back again |
The same charter school concept Montebello Unified School District denied nearly a year ago is back again applying to open a ninth- through 12th grade campus.
After Los Angeles County Board of Education in March rejected Time Community School’s appeal of the Montebello’s rejection of its first school, the school’s leaders rewrote their plan. On Wednesday, officials from the school asked the Montebello school board to approve their new plan. |

To Prevent School Shootings, Districts Are Surveilling Students' Online Lives |
For many students, this new school year will mean more reasons to watch what they do or say online. Spurred in part by the school shooting in Parkland, Fla., a year and a half ago, schools nationwide are collaborating with law enforcement in new ways in efforts to avoid the kind of tragedies that, while still rare, are far too familiar. They're investing in new security technologies that scan social media posts, school assignments and even student emails for potential threats. |
