Irvine, Diamond Bar high schoolers win spaghetti bridge competition at CSUF |
A team of four high school students from Irvine and Diamond Bar made the best use of pasta and epoxy to build the bridge that won the 14th Spaghetti Bridge competition at Cal State Fullerton. The July 19 competition at the Fullerton Arboretum capped the four-week Engineering Innovation program for high school students who have an aptitude in math and science and an interest in engineering.

CSU adds $10 million to boost math and science teacher preparation in California |
To address a persistent teacher shortage in math and science, California State University is pumping $10 million into its Mathematics and Science Teacher Initiative over the next four years. While enrollment in teacher preparation programs in California has increased in recent years, the majority of districts are still struggling to fill teaching positions. According to the Learning Policy Institute, 75 percent of 211 California districts surveyed in 2016 couldn’t find fully prepared teachers.
