Six Schools Flagged for Dangerous Lead Were Promised New Plumbing; New Bond Promises it Again
Safe drinking water has become a centerpiece of San Diego Unified’s pitch for a new $3.5 billion school bond on the November ballot. A majority of the 11 schools flagged in 2017 and 2018 for dangerous lead levels were explicitly promised new or improved plumbing twice in the last decade under previous bonds, but haven’t yet received it.

Charter school network spreads 'personalized learning' model nationwide
Founded more than a decade ago, Summit Prep became nationally known for its success in getting all its students through Advanced Placement classes and into college. Divisive Issues Dominate School Agenda
Controversy over starting school earlier in 2019 increased the usually light mid-summer attendance at this week’s school board meeting, which was packed with passionate parents. Assistant Superintendent Leisa Winston presented a revised version of the proposed 2019-2020 instructional calendar, under public consideration for the third time since April. Slides showed a projected start date of Aug. 26 in 2019 with the first day of school shifting earlier in successive years to Aug. 22 by 2022.
