5 OC library branches are offering free summer meals for kids starting today
Did you know your child can receive free summer meals at five OC Public Library branches? Starting today, select libraries in Orange County will offer healthy lunches to children and teens age 18 and under weekdays at noon. All meals will be served on a first-come-first-served basis, and no registration, identification or application is needed. If you’ve got a library card you can even pick up a couple books while you’re there.

Newsy Suzie: New leader set to take the helm at Brea Olinda High
The Brea Olinda Unified School District board appointed Ixchel Sanchez as the new principal of Brea Olinda High. She’ll take the helm from the school’s leader of 15 years, Jerry Halpin, who will serve as principal on special assignment in the district office’s Educational Services Department.

Water Safety Day in Mission Viejo features education, crafts and family fun
Families can enjoy a day of water fun, activities and crafts at Mission Viejo’s Water Safety Day on Saturday, June 23. From 2-4 p.m. attendees can learn how to prevent drownings, see a mock water rescue and enjoy a free day of swimming and splash pad. There’s no cost for admission, and food will be available for purchase.

New York’s Elite Girls’ Schools Are Starting to Admit Transgender Students
Some of New York City’s most prestigious private girls’ schools have begun opening their doors to transgender students. The Brearley School on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, which is among the most academically rigorous institutions in the city, announced on Monday that all applicants who consider themselves female are welcome to apply.
